Plans and billing

Trials, upgrades, receipts, and what each plan actually gates.

What it does

Billing & Plan is where a workspace manages its subscription. /billing redirects to /settings/billing, where the actual page lives. Plans are metered on active leads and emails sent per period; mailboxes and warmup are unlimited on every paid plan. The page shows your current plan and usage, a grid of available plans to move between, a calculator for sizing a custom plan, and a list of past invoices.

Before you start

  • Whether a new subscription starts with a trial depends on the plan; trial length is configured per plan (0 to 90 days) rather than being fixed platform-wide.
  • If your subscription falls out of good standing, sending pauses. Leads, campaigns, mailboxes, and replies are never deleted for this; they are simply held until the plan is active again.
  • In sandbox or test mode, a notice says so directly on the page and nothing is ever really charged. [VERIFY: whether this workspace is currently in live, test, or sandbox billing mode]

Set it up, step by step

  1. Open Billing & plan from Settings. The Current plan card shows your plan's name, price, and subscription status, plus four meters: Active leads, Emails this period, Mailboxes, and Team seats, each as a count against its limit (or "Unlimited").
  2. To change plans, scroll to the plan grid. Each card shows the plan's price, a short description, its active leads and monthly email limits, and up to four features. The button reads Current plan on your plan, Upgrade on a pricier plan, Downgrade at renewal on a cheaper one if you already have a subscription, or Choose on a cheaper one if you do not.
  3. Clicking Upgrade or Choose while you have no active subscription sends you to checkout to enter payment. Clicking it while already subscribed changes your plan right away without a separate checkout step.
  4. Clicking Downgrade at renewal asks you to confirm first: "Move to [plan] when the current period ends?" You keep your current plan until then, and nothing is refunded or charged immediately. Confirm with Schedule the change.
  5. If you arrived here from a plan chosen on the marketing site or from a sizing calculator, a highlighted card offers to Continue with [plan] in one click, with the price and email limit shown before you commit. Nothing is charged until you confirm at checkout.
  6. To size something custom instead of picking a listed plan, use the Build your own plan card. Enter Emails per day, Emails / user / day (8 to 10 is recommended for deliverability), Users / domain, and toggle Managed warmup & campaigns if wanted. A proposal appears automatically: users, domains, and workspaces it works out to, the one-time cost (domains plus setup), the monthly cost, and sometimes a tip that an existing plan is cheaper. Click Checkout — [amount] + [amount]/mo to proceed.
  7. To update your card or view full billing history, click Manage subscription, which opens the billing portal. A promotion code is entered on the external checkout page, under the order summary, not on this page.
  8. To cancel, click Cancel at period end. You are asked for an optional reason, then to confirm: "Cancel at the end of the current period?" Everything keeps working until then, nothing is charged after, and your data stays. Click Keep my plan to undo it before then.
  9. Check Receipts for every paid invoice, with its number, amount, billing period, and paid date, plus View and PDF links where available. Click All invoices in the billing portal for the complete history.

What you should see

Each meter bar turns amber at 80% of its limit and red at 100% or over. The subscription status pill reads things like active, trialing, or past due, colored accordingly. A scheduled cancellation shows a banner naming the date your plan ends. A scheduled downgrade shows a similar banner with a Keep [current plan] button to back out before it takes effect.

Common problems

  • "Sending is paused": your subscription is not in an active state. If the reason is a failed payment, update your card under Manage subscription and sending resumes once it succeeds; otherwise pick a plan from the grid to resume.
  • "Your last payment did not go through": this is the grace period. Sending continues until the date shown while the card is retried automatically; update your card before then to avoid a pause.
  • A downgrade did not apply immediately: this is expected. Downgrades are scheduled for the end of the current billing period, not applied instantly, so you are not charged twice or short-changed on what you already paid for.
  • No field for a promotion code: it is entered on the external checkout page under the order summary, not inside this page.
  • A plan change or cancellation seems to have no effect right away: check for a banner near the top of the page describing a scheduled change; most billing actions here take effect at the next period rather than immediately.

Common questions

What does the trial include?

Enough to prove the product on real infrastructure rather than a sandbox. Note that a Google Workspace trial account caps at five hundred messages a day against two thousand on a paid account, which matters if you are testing volume.

Is the infrastructure included in the plan?

No, and no honest vendor includes it. Domains and provider seats are billed at cost because they are bought from third parties on your behalf. The plan covers the software.
