Knowledge base

The material the AI writes from, so drafts sound like your business.

What it does

Knowledge (/knowledge) is part of emailcampaign.ai (called Campaign Cloud in the signed-in app's own sidebar) and is a searchable library described in the app as "Internal playbooks: ICP definitions, objection handling, and operating guides that power AI drafting context." Each row is an article with a title, a text preview, tags, an Approved yes/no flag, how many times it has been referenced, and when it was last updated. You can search by title or preview text, and click a row to open it in a drawer.

Knowledge shares its underlying structure with two other libraries in the app: Clauses (legal language for contracts) and Resources (general reference material). All three are the same kind of record, split into separate pages by category. None of the three has a button in the app to create, edit, or approve an entry: this page, like Clauses and Resources, is read-only in the UI. Content has to be populated from outside the product, and only entries marked Approved are meant to feed AI drafting.

The app's own description says approved articles become "grounding context for AI drafts": the idea is that once your ICP, common objections, and playbooks are written down and approved here, AI-assisted replies and copy elsewhere in the product can draw on them instead of writing from nothing. The AI Models page confirms this for at least one task: reply drafting is listed as running "with knowledge-base grounding." [VERIFY: whether campaign copy and other AI tasks also draw on this library, or only reply drafting]

Before you start

  • Viewing this page only needs the baseline "view dashboard" permission, the same one that gates every module list in the app.
  • There is no upload or "New article" control anywhere on this page. If your workspace has no knowledge articles yet, someone outside the product needs to add them before this library can do anything for your AI drafts.
  • Only articles marked Approved are described as usable grounding context. An unapproved draft article sitting in the list is not necessarily excluded from anything the AI does with it, since that logic lives outside this page. [VERIFY: whether unapproved articles are actually excluded from AI use, or whether Approved is informational only]

Set it up, step by step

  1. Go to Knowledge in the left navigation (/knowledge).
  2. Use the search box to find an article by title or by words in its preview text.
  3. Click a row to open its full preview, tags, approval state, and how often it has been referenced.
  4. If you need a new article added, or an existing one corrected, arrange for that outside the app; there is nothing on this page to do it yourself.

What you should see

Rows show a Tags list rendered as small chips, an Approved column showing yes or no, and a Referenced count that should climb over time for genuinely useful articles. An empty workspace shows "No knowledge articles yet" with the same explanation about approved articles becoming AI grounding context. Nothing on the page ever shows an error about permissions in normal use, since there is no write action to fail.

Common problems

  • You expected an "Add article" or "Upload" button and there isn't one. That is correct for the current build: Knowledge, Clauses, and Resources are all view-only from the app itself.
  • An article never shows up in an AI draft even though it is marked Approved. This page cannot confirm what triggers use of an article; treat this as expected uncertainty rather than a bug until you can check with whoever manages your AI configuration. See AI and copilot.
  • Search finds nothing you expect. Search only matches the title and the preview text shown in the list, not necessarily the article's full body.

Common questions

What should go in the knowledge base?

The things a new salesperson would need: what you sell, who it is for, what it costs, the three objections you always hear, and two customer stories with real numbers.
